This is a link to an opinion piece by Ken and Kathy Moudy:
A take from the private sector
Well, what do you think? My mild take is that this article will not fix any broken relationships. Are the authors part of "us" or "them"? Wait a minute, isn't that what Carrie is arguing needs to be fixed?
I would like to point out to the private sector that valuing your employees with remuneration comparable to similar businesses will retain most of your employees, engendering a stable work force whose competence increases as they grow with the job and receive collegial support from other experienced employees. Valuing your employees with a relatively high salary will cause more workers to seek your open positions, allowing your business a chance to hire the best and the brightest.
Constant adversarial bickering with low relative wages will cause high turnover in your work force. Your productivity will suffer. Sadly, the latter is what is occurring in the Hayward Unified School District. That is sad, because our children's education is the product that will be injured.
